How Scalp Micropigmentation Works
What is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure designed to replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp.
Our Advanced Micro-Dot Technology
During the SMP procedure, micro-pigment deposits are applied to the scalp using ultra-fine needles.
At Roots of Majesty, our Advanced Micro-Dot Technology utilizes precise spacing, dot layering, and softness tailored to your unique scalp. The result is realistic density that looks effortless and ages beautifully.
-
Each pigment dot is meticulously applied based on your scalp’s unique light reflection, hair direction, and density zones. Unlike pixelated or overly uniform SMP results, our micro dots mimic natural follicle flow — dot by dot.
-
Micro Dot Technology is applied over multiple sessions to build lifelike depth. This layering ensures the illusion of 3D follicle growth instead of a flat tattooed look. It evolves with your skin and ages naturally — no harsh outlines, no fading blobs.
-
Not all scalps are created equal. Our technique is customized for female partings, diffuse thinning, and crown recession — areas where softness, gradient blending, and minimal spacing matter. It’s SMP refined for subtle enhancement, not just camouflage.
What to Expect
A Warm Welcome & Thoughtful Start
Each session begins with a consultation. We’ll confirm the area(s) you’ve booked based on the photo you previously sent, and discuss any future areas you may wish to address.
We’ll take your “before” photo and begin the 20-minute numbing process, so you’re fully comfortable before we start.
Micro Dots, Made Just For You
The Technique: Layered Micro Dots
A layering technique is used to build soft, natural-looking density.
Each dot is placed with consideration for your scalp’s curvature and hair direction, mimicking how natural shadows form.
This approach avoids flat or overly uniform coverage, creating results that blend seamlessly with your existing hair.
Noticeables Results, Naturally Fuller Hairline.
At the end of your session, you will sit up to view the results.
There will be a noticeable difference in fullness, especially along sparse or widened areas.
We will walk you through the healing process and aftercare.

At Roots of Majesty, we believe that nothing on the scalp should stay permanent.
Our technique is therefore designed to soften naturally over time instead of leaving a harsh or permanent result for years.
Rather than aiming for the darkest result in one session, we gradually build density one layer at a time, allowing every treatment to be customised to each individual.
Roots of Majesty is also one of the few beauty studios that specialises solely on SMP.Don’t just take our word for it. View the case study.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) deposits tiny pigment into the scalp to mimic natural hair follicles, reducing the contrast between the hair and scalp for a fuller appearance.
At Roots of Majesty, we build density gradually over sessions for a soft, natural result that fades naturally over time.

With proper technique and quality pigments, the goal is for the pigment to soften naturally rather than shift into unnatural colours.
-
Most clients describe it as a prickly or a vibrating sensation rather than pain. A numbing cream is applied for utmost comfort.
-
Yes, you can.
For both dyed hair and hair growth treatment, we recommend at least 5 days before and 14 days after your SMP session to ensure the scalp micro wounds have fully healed. This helps the pigments settle into the scalp without any irritation.
-
Our SMP is $300 nett per unit, per session. The number of units required depends on the size and sparseness of the area.
As a general reference, a typical parting is around 2–3 units ($600–$900 nett per session).
You can send us a clear photo of the area you’d like to focus. We’ll assess and provide you with a personalised quotation.

We recommend waiting 14 days between sessions to allow the micro-wounds to fully heal and the pigments to settle properly.
1 session creates a subtle, natural improvement in density. A second session adds more layers, giving a fuller and refined appearance.
